The Bluebook Prayer

Guide us by your holy citation
When In Flagrante Delicto you are Res Ipsa Loquitor
Trouble us not with complex abbreviation
Even when it is in Opp’n, a Pet., or a Mot. for Recons.

Direct readers to our controlling authority
Signal our persuasion But see our contradiction
See generally our awe of your wisdom
Confuse us not with infra or supra, i.e. or e.g.

Whether short form or pinpoint, never let us mis-cite
Make us format our footnotes in convention
Let us be sparing in our punctuation
Let us not err with an errant space or quotation
