On second thought...I'm glad that Italy won. My thinking is that it after playing Italy to the draw [in a game that they should have lost, fuck you Brian McBride and Jorge Larrionda] that the United States could have actually been productive in the Tournament. Maybe it's that optimism that causes me to say things like, "Wait til next year" or "God, the Cubs really suck ass but I can't stop watching." The World cup was fun to watch, to root for a variety of teams, and to demonize certain referrees and players. It is a beautiful game. Maybe, just maybe, it will get big and popular in this country.
And on that note: Let's go BEARS!
